As a branch of the cognitive sciences and cognitive behavioural psychology, NLP grew multi-disciplinarily from the fields of General Semantics, Transformational Grammar, Anthropology and Cybernetics, Family Systems, Gestalt Therapy to Medical Hypnosis.
In 1994, Dr L Michael Hall developed the Meta States model as the core model of Neuro-Semantics, placing it in the ‘map’ of NLP and elevating it to a higher level of development.
